It's not betraying your destiny but creating it! The novel explores issues besetting contemporary Moldova Its plot rests on modern topics such as economic migration, the EastWest culture clash, the sexual exploitation of East European women and the role of local religion which has a penchant for the sensational in the psychological makeup of these victims The book is given life and flavour by the tumultuous human stories which form the pulsating heartbeat of the novel Perhaps sometimes the devil you know is dangerous than the one you don't.

I lived in Moldova for two years and am always looking to read books about Moldova and/or by Moldovan authors. This novel was truly heartbreaking at times, highlighting many of the socioeconomic problems that plague Moldova, especially sex trafficking and emigrating for work. The three main characters were beautifully illustrated and the reader is immediately drawn to all three of them and their friendship. Through the fra

This is a story of Moldova, reportedly Europe's poorest state with a population forced economically to migrate across Europe in search of work to support families back home. So it's very relevant to us today. The story follows the lives of 3 women, 2 of whom are searching for their missing friend who has been co-erced by Moldovan people

Ebook ð Bessarabian Nights Kindle ✓ bessarabian book, nights mobile, Bessarabian NightsBessarabian Nights ePUBThis book highlights some important truths and less well-known aspects of human trafficking and economic migration. It contains many touching stories of people caught in a cycle of poverty, alcoholism, no job prospects and violence in their country at the periphery of Europe, a country caught between superstition and political propaganda, a country still struggling with its own historical and ethnic identity.
There are some well-written scenes, particularly the ones evoking the childhood of the three girls, the 'blood sisters'. However, there is a tendency to lecture the reader, quite a bit of info dumping.

I thought this was a very thought provoking story. And heart breaking. I don't think I could fully wrap my head around a lot of the things having to do with Moldovan custom and lore, but it was all very interesting. I was able to understand the abuse all TOO well. And the author portrayed that in a very real and unflinching manner. All in all, it's a very good book. I think I'm going to have to RE-read it to be able

There are aspects of the culture that I don't believe in, like the superstitions, but I know they are an important part of the culture. I thought it also gave a good, albeit brief overview of the long and confusing history of this country.

Regarding the story, I thought it was entertaining, but parts of the end were a bit slow. I thought it was interesting how she ended it though.

Having watched a lot of documentaries on the topic, the book did depict, in a very (I accentuate very) minor degree, how macabre the sex trafficking parasite is. The story of the three friends attempts to cover three completely different personalities and angles on the topic, however it does disappoint a lot on the
